Would you wear a 7kg jacket?
We would like to show you the weight our dogs are often confronted with.
An average dog harness in shops weighs 280 g. For a dog weighing three to four kilograms, this corresponds to 8% of its body weight.
If a person weighing 89 kg were to wear a jacket that corresponds to 8% of their body weight, this jacket would weigh 7.12 kg.
Who would want to wear such a heavy jacket? We better prefer a light jacket.
This weighs an average of 1.7 kg, which in our example corresponds to 1.9% of the body weight. If we transfer the calculation to a dog weighing 3.5 kg, we get a weight of 66.85 g. From our point of view, this is a reasonable weight for a dog harness.
The dog harness for a 3.5kg dog ideally weighs no more than 70 grams.
If we compare this weight with our Vest Air Mesh harnesses, a harness in size S weighs only 54 g and a harness in size M only weighs 67 g.
If you consider that size S harnesses are suitable for dogs weighing 4-7 kg and size M harnesses are suitable for dogs weighing 6-9 kg - you can see that our harnesses are well below the recommended maximum weight.
With a lighter harness, the dog's horizontally lying spine is significantly relieved.
Your dog will just feel comfortable in his curli harness and is not burdened by unnecessary weight.
