Why a different leash is the right one, depending on dog and task

Most of the dog owners use the same leash day after day. Often those who landed in the shopping cart during the first visit to the pet shop. The three basic criterion: length, material and kind of leash.

The length
The focus is on the application area. Basically applies: the shorter the leash the better the control.
In traffic many influences appeal on your dog wherefore we recommend a short leash for direct commands. For sports or outdoor we recommend a long leash.

The material
In most cases, the choice is made in between of the four common materials:

Leather
Leather leashes are tough and longer durable. But they need intensive care and weigh more.

Biothane
These leashes need less care, they are more durable and weigh less. But they are sometimes stiff and
stubborn.

Nylon
Leashes made of nylon are not intensive, easy care, weigh nearly nothing and you will get them
in almost any colors and designs. However, the seams do fray easily.

Tube-Nylon
They show the same advantage than nylon leashes. Additional they don`t have seams oder sharp edges
and therefore they are more durable.

The kind of leashes
To choose the right leash put the focus on use.

Retractable leash
They are usually four till eight meters long and have a spring system which keep the leash tight.
They are practically and don`t tangle up. This leashes are for educated dogs which can handle
freedom of movement.

Towrope
These leashes are in-between ten and thirty meters long. They enable control as well as freedom of movement. Therefore they are perfect for training and exercise.

Jogging leash
A jogging leash is flexible and have an expander. This allows a jerky pull to be absorbed. The first choice for dog owners and dogs who like to run together.

Adjustable leash
These leash is adjustable in between 1.40 and 2 meter. It is suitable for almost any use of leading.

City leash
This is the simple version of the adjustable leash and is not adjustable. She measures in between 1.40 and 1.60 meter and is suitable for an urban environment where many influences affect the dog.
