Tips to make jumping into the cold water fun and safe for your four-legged friends.

In summer there is nothing better for many dogs than jumping into the cool water.

Nevertheless, not every dog is automatically a water rat. Some are afraid of water and others are simply better off on land because of their physique.

In this newsletter you will find out what else you should pay attention to when your dog is bathing.

Not all dogs love wet paws.

The fact is: dogs need to cool down in hot temperatures. They don't sweat and they can't just shed their fur.

That is why a trip into the water makes perfect sense for most dogs.
But there are also dogs who don't like water and that should be respected.

With targeted training you can perhaps still arouse enthusiasm, but no dog should be forced.

There are also dog breeds that are physically not good swimmers.
Such as bulldogs or dachshunds. Retrievers or poodles, on the other hand, are often true swimming professionals.

The checklist before jumping into the water.

Even if your dog wants to jump into every puddle immediately, you should take your time and clarify a few important points:

1. Can the dog bathe here? Dogs are not welcome everywhere. Otherwise use designated dog beaches.

2. What is in the water and in the area? Watch out for objects, such as sharp edges, that could injure your dog.

3. Are there dangerous currents in the water? Dogs too often underestimate the power of running water.

4. Is the water clean? Blue-green algae in particular can be poisonous. A musty smell, a green carpet on the water and blue-green streaks are indications of this.

5. Does my dog still have enough energy or is he tired? A romp in the water can be very exhausting. Young, inexperienced dogs in particular often exhaust themselves. Therefore, take regular breaks.

The cooling effects of water

If the temperatures rise, we recommend a curli harness made of air mesh material.

They are permeable to air and have a special cooling function.
Simply immerse the harness in cold water and put it on the dog.
The water in the fabric layers contributes to the heat exchange and cools the dog.

To the Vest Harnesses and Belka Harnesses for large dogs with Air-Mesh Material.

Now nothing stands in the way of a summer full of adventure with our furry friends and we look forward to meeting many of you outside.

Have a great day
